OT at a Glance
Occupational Therapy (OT) addresses how we occupy our time. It uses a variety of meaningful activities throughout our day, with a goal of being as independent, balanced, organized, and happy as possible.
OT is unique because it embraces and values autonomy, regarding both physical and mental health, over an individual's lifetime.
For children and their parents, this means looking at:
-
sensory processing
-
regulation
-
movement
-
motor skills
-
play
-
ADLs (activities of daily living)
-
family dynamics and culture
-
individual's strengths, interests, and internal motivation
-
adaptation of activity and/or environment
